An Incremental Phylogenetic Tree Algorithm Based on Repeated Insertions of Species

چکیده
In this paper, we introduce a new phylogenetic tree algorithm that generates phylogenetic trees by repeatedly inserting species one-by-one. The incremental phylogenetic tree algorithm can work on proteins or DNA sequences. Computer experiments show that the new algorithm is better than the commonly used UPGMA and Neighbor Joining algorithms. Keywords—Data structure, Distance matrix, Phylogenetic tree, Protein.

Incremental phylogenetics by repeated insertions: An evolutionary tree algorithm
We introduce the idea of constructing hypothetical evolutionary trees using an incremental algorithm that inserts species one-by-one into the current evolutionary tree. The method of incremental phylogenetics by repeated insertions lead to an algorithm that can be used on DNA, RNA and amino acid sequences. According to experimental results on both synthetic and biological data, the new algorith...
متن کاملQuantitative Comparison of Tree Pairs Resulted from Gene and Protein Phylogenetic Trees for Sulfite Reductase Flavoprotein Alpha-Component and 5S rRNA and Taxonomic Trees in Selected Bacterial Species
Introduction: FAD is the cofactor of FAD-FR protein family. Sulfite reductase flavoprotein alpha-component is one of the main enzymes of this family. Based on applications of this enzyme in biotechnology and industry, it was chosen as the subject of evolutionary studies in 19 specific species. Method: Gene and protein sequences of sulfite reductase flavoprotein alpha-component, 5S rRNA sequence...

متن کاملrDNA-ITS2 Identification of Anopheles pulcherrimus (Diptera: Culicidae): Genetic Differences and Phylogenetic Relation with Other Iranian Vectors and Its Implications for Malaria Control
Anopheles pulcherrimus Theobald has a wide distribution in western Asia and is a potential vector of malaria in Iran. We have examined the rDNA-ITS2 (internal transcribed spacer 2) region of An. pulcherrimus specimens collected during the two peaks of activity (May-June and October-November) from Sistan and Baluchistan province, southeastern Iran. There were no consistent differences between sp...
متن کاملAn Experimental Study of Dynamic Dominators
Motivated by recent applications of dominator computations, we consider the problem of dynamically maintaining the dominators of flow graphs through a sequence of insertions and deletions of edges. Our main theoretical contribution is a simple incremental algorithm that maintains the dominator tree of a flow graph with n vertices through a sequence of k edge insertions in O(mmin{n, k}+ kn) time...
